MM-Englisman In New York (Sting)

Sting is one of my favorite artists. Perhaps because we share the same take on life. Deep and meaningful, his songs reflect how he sees life through his experiences. An advocate of humanity, Sting easily touches anyone through his songs. Happy Music Monday everyone.

Top 3 Movies of the Eighties

The eighties provided the world with a whole host of amazing movies from all genres. This decade was definitely a golden age in cinema and three of its best films are described below.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High

This is an American high school movie that really establishes the way things worked at the time. Its characters are accurate embodiment of typical stereotypes associated with high school. From the girl desperate to get a boyfriend to the stoned surfer who challenges a concerned teacher, this movie features characters that you are sure to have known in your time at high school.

The Breakfast Club

Yet another impressive high school movie, this one depicts how a group of different teenagers can come together and find common ground. This movie is an inspiring watch and is sure to keep you entertained throughout. Its portrayal of how teenagers can foster caring bonds despite stereotypes is heartening and extremely fascinating.

Footloose

Very few people can resist a movie about dancing and Footloose sets the standard for all such movies. This one is about a determined teenager who fights to overcome the town’s rule against dancing and rock music. A fascinating story, the movie is entertaining and will definitely have you rooting for the lead character until the very end. This movie is a classic story of determination and achievement with great songs thrown in to add to the fabulous experience.

Each of these three movies drastically transformed the face of cinema in the 1980s. Though they are just the tip of the ice berg they definitely represent the best of 80s cinema.

Stars Don't Make A Team

Powerhouse Miami Heat succumbed to the deadly San Antonio Spurs. It was a massacre as the Spurs beat them by more than 30 points. Taunted as the team to beat, the Heat was powerless against the onslaught. The Heat may have the best trio in the NBA but they did not even make a dent. It only proves that stars don't make a team. The Spurs is an old team but their cohesiveness is their strength.
