MM-Born To Be Wild (SteppenWolf)

Everyone knows this song that the movie "Easy Rider" used for its soundtrack. The movie also catapulted and legitimized the American chopper. Sadly, I also exposed the ugly side of chopperss, the gangs. Anyone riding a bike was stereotyped as simply bad. I am glad that that is not the case now. Custom bikes are now considered art pieces.

Canceled!

Season opener, Bahrain Grand Prix has been canceled. Political unrest in the tiny Middle Eastern state is the culprit. While I'd love to see the first race of F1 for 2011, I think that changein Bahrain is more important. Human and political rights of any citizen of the free world is a good enough reason for me. I hope they can achieve what we Filipinos were able to achive, genuine change and freedom. Maybe next year, Bahrain would finally be a true democracy.

MM-Take My Breath Away (Berlin)

Who could forget Top Gun? I always wanted to be some hotshot flyboy when I was young. Poor eyesight dashed any hope of being one. I had to be content with building model planes just to be close to my boyhood dream. I am sure that one point in any boy's life, he wanted to be a pilot, a fighter pilot. I envied a cousin who ended up being in Top Gun School and later flew in Desert Storm. He's retired now and would share his experiences with me whenever we see each other. I loved the movie and the planes they flew. I hope you like my featured video. Happy Music Monday to all of you.

Politics In Sports

For more than a decade, I stayed away from actively participating in sports due to politics. As I saw the decline of Philippine bowling in the past few years, I told myself that I have to take a dip in it again. Today, I attended the Philippine Bowling Congress's General Assembly. I once again saw the ugly politics and greed of some of its directors. Their terms had expired but they wanted to cling to their powerful positions. Going as far as forging official documents, they tried very hard to defend their criminal act.

They changed the PBC's bylaws to extend their terms from one year to four. They forged signatures of trustees. One member exposed the anomaly. Under the threat of legal action, four signatories admitted that their signatures were forged. The erring officials and some of their supporters tried to derail the motion to have a snap election. Of the twenty member associations, twelve approved the motion while only eight (close supporters of the greedy officials) denied the motion. when the house why divided and clear majority was determined, the representatives of the eight walked out.

Despite this, the motion for a snap election was carried. We will be informed by the secretary of when the elections will take place. Politics in the PBC has gone from a professional disagreement to one that mirrors real politics. No wonder our national has nothing to show for. Sponsors refuse to donate because funds were being misused and corruption rampant. This was proven when no liquidation of funding was not presented. Instead, a litany of supposed accomplishments were recited.

I cannot let this pass. I intend to be active and visible again. I hope the old stalwarts of bowling would return and run the congress professionally. Philippine bowling declined drastically when they stepped down to give way to new blood. Sadly, these new blood were all tainted. They did nothing to improve the sport but hastened its near demise. I will refrain from naming names for now in the belief that these erring officials would humbly step down. From what I witnessed today, i do not think they would be going out without a fight. In the end, a legal action could be the only solution. Falsification of any public document is a criminal act. I suppose they would rather have their crap plastered on the wall for everyone to see. They have made their stand and so have we. It will be a bloody showdown but we have to do the right thing. If things turn really ugly, we'll just see you in court you greedy as*****s!

MM-Just A Love Song (Walter Murphy)

I've been trying to find this song for years. I wanted to download it to add to my MP3 collection. Finally I found it. It's one worth sharing. It's such a beautiful song which seems to touch the heart of the one you love. This song was also my first dance with a girl two years my junior. Those were the days when parties are parties, when you sit down for dinner with a lady you like. It was back in the day when music was music and you would walk out from the place with your eardrums intact. Happy Valentine's Day and Happy Music Monday to all.

MM-Safety Dance (Men Without Hats)

Another '80s classic. Here is Men Without Hats performing one of their hits, Safety Dance. I remember everyone hitting the dance floor every time this song is played. It still makes me dance, I hope it does the same to you. Happy Music Monday to all!

Will Tiger Ever Roar Again?

The 2010 PGA season was the lowest year for Tiger Woods. The scandal that ripped his stellar career to pieces had taken its toll on him. The loss of his father had taken a huge chunk of his life. I doubt if those around him would ever have the same influence his father had on him. After all, their concern is only on what Tiger makes. It saddens me that Tiger may never be the person he once was. The chink in his armor was not his talent but the soul that his father shared with him.

I hope he goes back to his roots, to the values that the late Earl Woods taught him. As the 2011 season starts, I hope he steps back and take a look what he once was. His career was all about family. That is what brought his career to success.

When I coach, reminding a struggling player if going back to basics is the key to getting back his game. In Tiger's case, it going back to the values that his father taught him is the key to getting back his career.
