He's Coming Back

There's a strong possibility that my idol, 7-time champion Michael Schumacher will be returning to F1. He'll be taking the place of the injured Felipe Massa until he's fully recovered from his recent injury. Schumi maybe 40 years old but he's still very competitive. He 'll be undergoing a training program afterwhich Ferrri would decide if he's fit to drive for them. I'm looking forward to his return.

The good news is that Massa is recovering and his left eye is alright. The sad news is that BMW will be leaving F1 at the end of the season. Their performance is way below par this year and I think this made the management to decide to drop F1. Of course the controversy of the FIA is also a factor. BMW spends a lot in R&D and this has made BMW one of the most prestigious and reliable luxury cars around.

Welcome back Schumi!

Ferrari's Felipe Massa In Stable Conditon

It was at Turn 4 at the Hungaroring track that Massa met an accident. A flying damper spring from Rubens Barrichello's car hit Massa on the forehead that fractured his skull. Massa lost consciousness and slammed his car into the tirewall. He's in stable condition after undergoing a surgery. I hope he'll recover soon. It was a freak accident that could end his promising career. I wonder who will take his place he's recovering. It's a big bump on Ferrari's comeback bid.

My New Shades

I've always wanted to have this. I'm a cyclist and will always be. Owning this Lance Armstrong edition by Oakley is a treat for me. A friend bought it for me when she learned about my eye condition knowing too well how the sunlight affects my vision. I also collect shades and this one definotely stands out. Now if only I had Lance's strength. Well, wearing what he's wearing is good enough for me

Disappointing Sports Week

It's a very disappointing week for me. Two of my idols fell by the wayside. Tiger Woods did not make the at the British Open while Lance Armstrong fell behind Alberto Contador in this year's Tour de France. Tiger didn't seem himself last week. Perhaps he's in one of those moods that you don't feel competitive. I can't blame him. As a sportsman, I get burned out too. There are days that you just want to sit and relax. I'm sure that Tiger's life is more complicated than mine.

As for Lance Armstrong, he's an outsider in the Astana team so I really didn't expect them to give him all-out support. Astana nearly lost its license to compete after its cyclist went unpaid for two months. After yesterday's stage 16, Lance proved why despite his age, he remains to be a force to contend with. His teammates obviously didn't want him and the management exploited his influence to dig them out of the financial hole they were in. Lance is better off forming a new team that would give him the respect he deserves.

The only consolation is that Ferrari's back in the podium as Felipe Massa finished third in last Sunday's Nurburgring GP. Nice to see the Red Bulls win again to get within striking distance of Brawn GP.

Oh well, just another week in the world of sports.

Barrichello Doesn't Have It

From hero to zero, Rubens Barrichello showed that he is never going to be no. 1 in any team. He just doesn't have that champion's heart in him. Okay, htey had technical problems but that doesn't mean the team was to blame. Even the greatest drivers have had misfortunes in their careers but they hardly go after their team. Clearly the rest of the field had caught up with Brawn-Mercedes. They need to step up.

But instead of talking to the press to air his deissatifaction, he should discuss the matter with his team. Talking through his ass will not solve his woes. Early in the race, Rubens showed signs that he cannot take the pressure. He's way over his head. He should learn to take everything in stride. He showed that he is not a good driver after all. He had problems with bis refuelling rig which caused him the lead. It's not his team's fault, it happens to the best.

Perhaps this is heaven's way of telling him to keep his feet on the ground. I'm glad he did not win. Just imagine what he'll turn into if wins the drivers championship? So the next time something goes bad during the race, be a gentleman Rubens. You are not a god.

Is Formula 1 Dead?

Present FIA prexy could be sitting on a ticking time bomb. Should he stick to his guns, the F1 stands to lose eight teams and big bucks. The brouhaha started with FIA's imposing a budget cap in 2010. We all know that the R&D of the automoive world comes from the racing scene. To put a cap on spending would have a huge effect on the industry. Anyone who intends to compete in F1 is aware of the staggering cost to maintain a team. F1 is not a poor man's sport.

The FIA I think is favoring someone's interest. I really don't know whose but from the looks of it, Mosley is out to destroy F1. Perhaps Mosley would like to relive the F1 of old, where carcrashes were normal and deaths expected. Racing is dangerous but if you can minimize casualties and increase safety, it could be a great career option.

The FOTA comprised of the eight teams have threatened to form a breakaway series. They have infact the support of the commercial outfits plus their loyal fans. I don't know how far this crisis will go. But definitely, F1 will cease to exist without the teams. Mosley may get what he wants but he would have to start looking for replacements soon or he may have an empty racetrack and empty seats.

He should go down from his high horse and accept the fact that the FIA maybe the governing body but they do not own the F1.

Thank You PSP

Looking for something to relieve my stress, I borrowed my son's PSP. Lo and behold, he had some old arcade games that I used to play. To be honest, I got hooked. Now I can hardly put the damn console down. It's kept me occupied playing those games brings back fond memories of my youth. The kids love watching me play as my entire body moves along with the game. It makes me look stupid at times and I even shout whenever I lose.

Now they're begging me to buy them a PS3 because they get stuck playing with their old PS2 whenever I play with the PSP. I suppose I better give them back the darn thing before they burn a hole in my pocket.
