Problem With Dropaholics

As I was making my drops today, I noticed how sites with the Dropaholics script would freeze. I tried several times to reload the page but to no avail. Even my own blog wouldn't load. I then removed the script and tried to view my blog. Viola!, My blog loaded fast and complete.

I suggest that those sites with the Dropaholic script remove it temporarily until Greg Matthews can resolve the problem. I'll go back to the sites I missed to make my drops. Happy dropping everyone.

Food For The Brain

I love to read and I'm one who wouldn't let a good book pass. But the local bookstore just don't carry the titles I want. It's a good thing that we now have online bookstores. This saves me a lot of time and money just to check out the new releases. One such site is borders jan 2009 which carries not only books, but all forms of mediums. From DVDs, CDs, greeting cards to games, name it, they surely have it.

One thing that caught my attention is their extensive array of books that would surely fill my craving brain. To help my kids with their homework and research, they also have textbooks in their inventory. They also suggest good reads for every kind of reader there is. A brief background of every title is on hand to give you an idea of what a specific books is all about. This is neat as you would definitely be satisfied with every book you get from them.

For that all important family bonding time, they also carry board games that guarantees fun and enjoyment for the entire family. They even offer great deals for almost all the products they carry. Nothing ever beats a good read and a closely-knit family.

Cleaning Time

I'm the type of person who's very meticulous when it comes to my car. I would spend hours cleaning it inside out. I don't go to car washes to have it cleaned. I'd rather do it myself the right way. Service stations often do the job half-baked. It's also a good exercise for me.

It's that time of year that I have to do my annual engine wash. I do it with some degreaser, several rags, a bucket of water and some brushes. For those hard to get areas, I use a toothbrush. I use a pair of surgical gloves to avoid getting my hands grimy and dirty. It also protects my hands from contaminants.

It's quite an ordeal as a whole year of dirt is accumulated by the engine. I change my oil and spark plugs and check for gasket leaks before cleaning my engine. Other stuff I check is my coolant, transmission fluid, brake fluid and air cleaner. I then mask my distributor and sensors. It would be costly if you ruin any of these. It takes a full day for me to finish the job and I suppose who can admire the end result.

It's just one of the things we gearheads are willing to do to keep our babies running smoothly and looking good. How about you, are you stupid like us?

Cold Air Induction System

I finally installed a cold induction unit in my car. It replaced my old air intake which has restricted airflow to my engine. The new system enhances combustion making for a more fuel efficient car and adds a few horses to my engine's power. I immediately felt the change. My engine is now more responsive.

The air filter also is very easy to maintain which of course saves me more money than having to buy a new filter often. Roads in Manila are quite dusty as we don't have those street-sweeping trucks to clean the streets. Having clean air going into your engine will keep it performing well. Aside from the added power, I also noticed an increase in my torque. There is also that wonderful growl every time I accelerate.

My car is 13 years old and it's as fresh as the day it rolled out of the dealer. Keeping my car well-maintained is the secret to its long life.I love it so much that I have no intention of replacing it just yet.

Long Overdue

This ship model has been sitting on the shelf for almost a decade now. A family friend bought this for my wife as a present. But since she has shifted to another hobby, I've decided to build it myself. My collection of paints has since dried up and I think I misplaced my airbrush. I miss building models and I hope I haven't lost the touch.

My son saw this and is keen on building it with me. Now I have to buy my cutters, tweezers and other modeling paraphernalia. I need to buy new brushes and paints as well as super glue. I find it stronger than your regular model glue. I need a lot of rags and thinners. At least my compressor is still in good condition.

Now I have to find time in between blogging and chores to start this new project. With summer approaching, I'm sure my son and I will have enough time to start the build. I just hope I've got enough eyesight left in me so as not to screw things up.

PPP Announces Changes

I was surprised to see a comment from Ms. Carri Bright of Izea about my entry, An Insult To Intelligence - PPP. Ms Bright explained the reason behind the $0.50 opps. She also announced the changes and easing of restrictions of PPP's TOS. I suppose after all these, PPP members will be a happier lot. Their blog is linked below. I hope you will visit their site and add your insights as well.

Hi Joel,

Thanks for your post! The lower priced Opps that you are referring to are part of pricing experiment running in PPP through the end of the month. As we were unaware of what the outcome of this experiment might be at the outset, we made no changes to the system at the time of inception.

However, this experiment has been so successful, we have made the decision to make the pricing changes permanent and will be making some adjustments to the PPP Terms of Service to accommodate this change.

First, as of February 1st,2009 the interim post requirement in PPP will be removed. Second, as of 2.01.09, you will be permitted to accept three Sponsored Post opportunities and 4 link only opportunities per blog per day. In addition, the minimum payout to bloggers will be $1.00.

Should you wish to read more about these changes or add your comments, I encourage you to visit the Izea blog at http://blog.izea.com or send a ticket to Customer Love with any specific questions.

All the Best,
Carri Bright
