Love Moves In Strange Ways

Courting can be taxing at times. More often than not, when the time comes to say "I love you", you get that lump in throat that leaves you hyperventilating. I've had my share of girlfriends but I suppose I was bitten hard by the love bug with my wife. The first time I set eyes on her, I knew I love her. The problem, she's the sister of a friend. This became a huge factor as culture dictates that it could turn ugly if things don't work out.

I never did formally court my wife. We did go out several times but it was always a group date. I had this feeling that she liked me too but I didn't want to make a move because she might think I was taking advantage of her feelings. I would be content with passing by their place on Saturday nights just to get a glimpse of her. I have been very confident around girls before but not with her. I'd make it appear that I was dropping by just to hang around with her brother and our friends. It took me awhile before I was able to finally express my feelings.

But still, I couldn't tell her how I felt. I did not even court her so how can I propose? One rainy afternoon, I gave her a call. I told her I had something to say but couldn't get myself to say it. She told me it's okay and that she'd like to hear what I have to say. I nervously asked her if it was okay to sing it to her instead. Modesty aside, I do have a great singing voice. So I sang her Jim Croce's "So I have to say I love you in a Song". She fell silent. I suppose it took several minutes for it to sink in. Well, she did accept my love. We got married twice, civil and church. That's how much I loved her. After a year and half, we were blessed with our first child. Looking back, I would laugh at myself and how stupid I was. Love does make you do the strangest things.

How about you? How did you say "I love you" the first time?

This Is My Baby

This is my baby that my wife envies and my son's favorite. I have yet to modify the engine but has installed some parts to improve its handling. I like it simple without much body modifications. I've been slowly buying parts like exhaust systems and suspension parts that would improve its handling. Although Manila is like a parking lot due to traffic, I let it rip in the tollways were its engine really shines. I've received offers for it being an original import from Japan (which is very rare). The latest one is from a group who would like to modify it for an upcoming car show. I might go for it as I will be getting the parts for free.

I'm A Gearhead

I love cars and tinkering with engines. My Dad used to have a service shop which he sold when he left for the States. I would spend my weekends in the shop observing repairs and restorations done on different cars. I was totally hooked. Our shop services the cars of an avid collector and I had a grand time seeing the exotic to some of the oldest cars you can imagine.

With the knowledge I gained, I would do minor repairs on my car. From tuning to replacement of basic parts. I love driving and did some drag racing in my younger days. I had to keep in step with the advancing technology and the only way is to get myself magazines. They have been a great help and had me thinking of how to make my car better.

With the prices of petrol going down, I just might be able to go ahead with my postponed project, turning my car into a speed demon.

Victim Of Downed Service

Late last night as the metropolis was enguld in torrential rain, my internet service conked out. It was only mid afternnon today that the service went back online. I was not able to do my usual EC drops which I suppose many of my EC buddies missed. Apparently, some cables where damaged during the rain which flooded several streets in Manila.

So it's back to work today, dropping on my usual haunts and enjoying a cool afternoon. I just hope that my service would stay online so my wife and I could finish our drops. Thanks to those who despite my absence on EC still dropped by my blog.

Chopper

I saw this nifty toy and I thought my son would like it. I wanted to introduce him to the wonderful world of flying. Although he has lots of remote controlled cars, a flying helicopter would be a welcome addition to his collection. Boy, did he love it. It's more than a foot long and could fly as high as 50ft. It's a starter kit and has a battery pack instead of the more expensive gas-powered ones. It's quite expensive though. It's a sight to see and the smile it puts on my son's face is simply, "PRICELESS'.
